About the position

The Estimator position involves analyzing blueprints and specifications to prepare accurate estimates for various products, projects, or services. The role requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, ensuring that all estimates are precise and align with project requirements. The Estimator will work closely with engineers and vendors to gather necessary information and develop comprehensive quotations for customers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare accurate estimates for products, projects, or services
• Review architectural plans and specifications for the scope of work
• Verify performance and structural requirements with the application engineer as needed
• Prepare material take-offs for accurate pricing
• Develop the Scope of Work to accompany customer quotations
• Obtain vendor quotations for external items
• Prepare detailed estimates for bids using cost data and/or price lists
• Compute cost factors for use in planning, organizing, scheduling, bidding, vendor selection, and determining cost efficiency
• Recommend improvements to cost-estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with computer-aided drafting, V6 estimating software, and Microsoft Office
• Ability to read blueprints
