Structure Tone is looking to identify an Estimator to support our New York operations. The Estimator will develop, create and prepare construction cost estimates for a diverse set of projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the Pre-construction phase of the projects. The position will require involvement in several projects simultaneously. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing plans and architectural drawings, preparing quantity take-offs on assigned Healthcare industry projects, and ensuring a complete review of plans and drawings. They will identify items that have been omitted and ensure appropriate accounting in the overall estimate package. The role also involves developing and maintaining effective working relationships, soliciting subcontractor bids for assigned projects totaling $100 - $150 million per year, and obtaining 3-5 bids for each trade and supplier group. In addition, the Estimator will review and analyze bids for conformance to project specifications, price, material quality, insurance, wages, and related items. They will discuss and resolve any questions with subcontractors, follow approved estimating practices, and ensure the most complete estimates while meeting financial objectives. The Estimator will maintain current information on trends in and changes to existing construction codes and utilize appropriate software programs to calculate, record, and track estimates. The role requires attending client meetings, answering questions, and resolving issues regarding pricing and estimates to ensure client satisfaction. The Estimator will perform change order pricing, site visits, bid delivery, and collaborate with teams on specific bids. They will determine material and labor requirements, prepare itemized lists, compute cost factors, and prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness. Furthermore, the Estimator will conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions. They will consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues, obtaining support and commitment to the cost estimates. The Estimator will also organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating. Finally, they will analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs, determine the reason for any discrepancies, and provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs, while identifying cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
