About the position

Structure Tone is seeking an Estimator to support our Philadelphia office. The Estimator will be responsible for budgeting, bidding, leveling, and awarding a diverse set of projects; continuing to support the project team throughout all phases of construction. The position will require involvement in several projects simultaneously, managing the estimating process on assigned projects totaling $50 - $100M per year. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and meet the financial objectives of our clients. The Estimator will prepare quantity take-offs for various levels of budgeting, with a focus on commercial interior and/or pharmaceutical projects. Utilizing tools such as Onscreen takeoff, CMiC, and Excel, the Estimator will calculate, record, and track estimates effectively. Engaging with a centralized cost estimating database is essential to ensure that updated pricing is provided, inclusive of union wage increases, inflation, and other market adjustments. The Estimator will compile thorough scopes for subcontractor review during the level bid process and solicit subcontractor bids, ensuring that each project receives 3-5 bids per trade and/or supplier group. In addition to bid management, the Estimator will complete subcontractor bid reviews and descopes, ensuring conformance to project specifications, code requirements, material quality, project schedule, site logistics, insurance, and related items. Identifying omitted items is critical to ensure a complete estimate is provided to the client. The Estimator will also manage the subcontractor purchasing process, ensuring qualified subcontractors are utilized across various project types. The role involves managing project kickoff and closeout meetings to ensure a smooth transition of information across the estimating, engineering, accounting, and operations teams. Maintaining engagement from the bid phase through project completion for RFIs, change management, ticket pricing, and subcontract execution is essential. The Estimator will develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and team members alike. Attendance at client meetings is required to engage with and resolve issues regarding pricing and/or estimates, and to participate in value engineering exercises as needed, obtaining client approval and signoff. Additionally, the Estimator will participate in team collaboration and development, enhancing the potential growth for both individual team members and the entire estimating department.
