About the position
The Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing estimates for structural steel components within a well-established company in the steel fabrication and erection industry. This mid-level position involves conducting detailed take-offs, labor estimates, and reviewing vendor quotes to ensure compliance with project requirements. The role also includes preparing supporting documentation and assisting in the training of junior estimators, contributing to significant structural projects in a collaborative and ethical workplace.
Responsibilities
- Perform computer-aided and hand take-off estimates for structural steel components.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and vendor quotes to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Produce estimate summaries, identifying both basic and special requirements for the scope of work.
- Work closely with the VP of Sales and Estimating to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
- Assist in the training and development of junior estimators.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in bridge construction, estimating, or a relevant field.
- Understanding of the means and methods of bridge construction.
- Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications.
Nice-to-haves
- Strong experience reviewing construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Outlook, and other computer tools.
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
