About the position

Interstates is seeking a motivated Estimator to join their team of construction professionals. The Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and efficient cost estimates for electrical construction projects, ensuring competitive bids and proposals for clients. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders and requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and effective communication skills. Training will be provided for the right candidate, emphasizing the company's commitment to personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates for competitive bids and proposals.
• Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
• Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
• Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
• Draft scope letters, proposals, and vendor solicitations.
• Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and collaborations with clients and design professionals.
• Work under deadlines in an efficient and composed manner.
• Collaborate with other estimators, project managers, and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates.
• Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; additional education or experience in estimating, construction management, finance, or business administration preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Outlook.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work as a team player and self-motivated individual.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to track and organize project information.
• Strong mathematical skills for calculating figures and amounts.
• Sound judgment skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in construction management or finance.
• Familiarity with estimating software or tools.
