About the position

The Estimator position at Senior Flexonics Pathway involves reviewing and interpreting engineering sketches and fabrication drawings to compile cost estimates for manufacturing projects. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure accurate and timely estimates while maintaining profitability. The Estimator will also be responsible for cultivating relationships with stakeholders and ensuring that all components of the estimates are accounted for.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engineered conceptual sketches, fabrication drawings, and specification summaries.
  • Compile costed bills of materials, labor inputs, outside services, and overhead to derive a sound list price.
  • Perform comparative margin analysis on past or similar jobs and recommend pricing or discount levels.
  • Breakdown fabrication drawings into detailed bills of materials for quoting.
  • Prepare and send purchasing RFQs for all materials, machining, and services required for bid packages.
  • Insert pricing into bids for materials, machining, and services, ensuring all components are included.
  • Delineate all labor required for producing fabrication and estimate hours in labor fields.
  • Cultivate and maintain healthy relationships with engineering, project managers, customers, and vendors.
  • Complete estimates on time, securing orders while maintaining a profitable margin.
  • Prepare well-organized, detailed estimates for review and quote preparation.
  • Review estimates vs. actual job outcomes to address areas requiring improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or an Associate degree in mechanical drafting is preferred.
  • Ability to read CAD and SolidWorks drawings and/or general blueprints.
  • Understanding of industrial metal/steel fabrication processes and terminology.
  • Prior estimating and/or project management experience.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate computerized accounting and cost programs.
  • Excellent computer and data entry skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must, Made-To-Manage ERP system is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with good math skills and working knowledge of materials/supplies, weights/measurements, and shipping/logistics.

Nice-to-haves
