SLAIT Consulting is currently seeking an ETL/Data Warehouse Developer for a contract to hire position in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SAS Business Intelligence tools, including SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Cube Studio, and SAS Information Map Studio, with at least 3 years of experience. Additionally, the candidate should possess 2-4 years of experience working with data warehouse systems and a solid understanding of the data warehouse life cycle. The role requires demonstrated experience with multi-dimensional data structures and familiarity with traditional Oracle development tools. The candidate should also have experience in developing basic PL/SQL procedures to support data aggregation and at least 2 years of experience working with clients to define and develop BI applications that enhance business decision-making capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with Business Systems Analysts, users, and business leads to understand business needs. They will provide technical guidance to Business Analysts and end users to best address business functional requirements. Understanding the source data components and how they integrate with each other, both relational and dimensional, is crucial. The developer will review and approve the technical specifications provided by the Business Systems Analysts and design and implement BI architectures based on business, data, and functional requirements. They will also deliver high-level design documents for the program and development team to review, and support QA, UAT, and production support when required. The role involves developing, maintaining, documenting, and managing BI solutions using Business Object, SAS, and Spotfire, as well as custom data delivery systems for large-scale business intelligence initiatives. The developer will partner directly with other BI developers, data architects, clients, and database administrators to design and develop high-performing BI solutions while ensuring that solution designs address performance requirements, reusability, availability, integrity, security challenges, and business functional requirements. Good time management techniques and proactive communication regarding scheduling changes are essential. The developer will also prepare the Business Objects system landscape to provide an end-to-end BI architecture solution for the project, design universes to provide a semantic layer between Business Intelligence reporting tools and various data marts, and create and maintain universes based on user requirements and data sources.
