About the position

SLAIT Consulting is seeking a Mid-level to Senior ETL/Data Warehouse Developer for a contract-to-hire position in Richmond, VA. This role offers a great opportunity for career advancement, with the potential to transition into an Architect role. The position requires on-site work, although the company is willing to hire off the phone.

Responsibilities

• Leverages breadth and depth of applications expertise.
• Serves as lead liaison with end users to define and implement automated solutions for unique situations.
• Evaluates and recommends unique hardware configurations; defines special hardware/software requirements to meet user needs while adhering to technical standards.
• Acts as point of escalation and mentor for other applications engineers.
• Specializes in a particular software or application area that is highly valued in the end-user community.
• Works within the framework of established operating procedures and in close cooperation with internal and external support personnel to provide troubleshooting and maintenance end-user assistance.
• Validates both hardware and software aspects of desktop services to optimize end-user satisfaction and productivity.

Requirements

• 5 - 8 years of IT experience.
• Minimum 3-4 years of industry experience with an emphasis on ETL for business intelligence/data warehousing solutions in the insurance services industry.
• Hands-on Informatica ETL and Unix Shell scripting experience - 2-3 years.
• Strong database development, SQL, physical database design, and data modeling experience.
• Multiple full lifecycle project experience in developing ETL solutions as a developer, designer experience managing multiple concurrent, complex projects.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strategic and tactical thinking.
• Strong focus on providing service to the customer.
• Mastery in business process and application design.
• Out of the box thinking; flexible/critical thinking skills a must.
• Able to sell concepts and designs/benefits to multiple audiences.
• Able to work independently and in diverse, co-located and remote teams.
• Strong foundation in a broad range of technology areas including IT Security, Networking, Application Development, Project Management, Desktop/Server Management.
• Strong bias for execution.
