About the position

We are seeking a senior, hands-on ETL/Database Developer with strong communication skills for a long-term hybrid assignment with our Sacramento, California-based client. This position requires that you be able to work on-site in Sacramento, California for at least 2 days per week as determined by the client. The primary focus of this role is to perform ETL and database development activities for the Enterprise Data Warehouse in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, specifically within the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Environment. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing existing architecture and providing solution recommendations where applicable. You will develop, test, and implement scripts and jobs for data Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) from various data sources to targets in the data warehouse using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). Your role will also involve designing, developing, and optimizing ETL processes using Oracle tools and technologies, as well as creating and maintaining data pipelines to extract data from various sources, transform it according to business rules, and load it into Oracle data warehouses. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement appropriate solutions. You will troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues and performance bottlenecks, document ETL processes, data mappings, and data lineage, and implement data quality checks and validation procedures. Participation in code reviews and adherence to best practices in ETL development will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will have hands-on experience working with and managing Oracle's Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) service, develop physical data models, and work with data modelers to create these models. You will also be involved in developing testing approaches, plans, scripts, and documentation of results, as well as participating in the development of requirements and design specifications. Monitoring the EDW and responding to incidents will be part of your duties, along with providing documentation to support the Kimball Dimensional Data Modeling Framework. Mentoring and educating team members on best practices and industry standards will also be expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform ETL and database development activities for the Enterprise Data Warehouse in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Review existing architecture and provide solution recommendations where applicable.
• Develop, test, and implement scripts/jobs for data Extract Transform and Load (ETL) from data source(s) to target(s) in the data warehouse using ODI.
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes using Oracle tools and technologies.
• Create and maintain data pipelines to extract data from various sources, transform it according to business rules, and load it into Oracle data warehouses.
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement appropriate solutions.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and perform Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) activities using Oracle tools with at least 5 years ETL experience.
• Detail-oriented ability to independently extract, transform, and load an Oracle ADW data warehouse environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical requirements for a Data Warehouse.
• Demonstrated, direct hands-on recent practical experience in the areas identified with specific examples.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of verifiable experience in database design, development, and warehouse architecture supportive of key duties/responsibilities identified above in an Oracle environment.
• At least two (2) years of experience in the last 6 years performing ETL development activities in an Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Environment.
• 5 years' experience performing development in Oracle data warehouses within the last 10 years.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical stakeholders and team members.
• Proficient with various Oracle tools used to perform ETL, performance management, and tuning for an Oracle Data Warehouse and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Environment.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle Database, PL/SQL, and SQL.
• Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or Oracle GoldenGate.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Familiarity with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Certified for 'Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud 2021 Certified Specialist' and/or 'Oracle Machine Learning using Autonomous Database 2021 Certified Specialist'.
• Certified on Oracle Cloud infrastructure 2021 certified architect professional.
• Certified for Oracle data integrator 12C certified implementation specialist.
• Ability to perform technical leadership of an Oracle data warehouse team including but not limited to data modeling, requirements solicitation, DBA, data warehouse administration, and data analysis on a hands-on basis.
