About the position

We are seeking a passionate Data Integration Engineer to join our Strategic Platform Engineering team within the Chief Technology Office. This role is pivotal in bringing speed and innovation in data ingestion, data preparation, and analysis to address some of the pressing healthcare problems in our state. As an ETL Developer specializing in Ab Initio, you will be responsible for engineering data integration solutions on our cloud data warehouses and data lakes, focusing on delivering agility and cost optimization. You will independently perform analysis, design, and development of solution deliverables, supporting the analysis, design, and development of high-volume, low-latency data integration for mission-critical systems. This will involve writing well-designed, testable, and efficient code/scripts/ETLs to support varied IT solutions. You will also perform necessary discovery and fact-finding to fully understand business problems and opportunities, executing all assignments with limited supervision. Additionally, you will provide input into solution buy vs. build recommendations to management when requested, and effectively communicate development and production issues to the project team, applicable vendors, and/or the manager in a timely manner. Researching and staying abreast of technology trends and IT best practices will be essential, with a focus on continuous learning and possible application to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform analysis, design, and development of solution deliverables.
  • Support the analysis, design, and development of high-volume, low-latency data integration for mission-critical systems.
  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code/scripts/ETLs to support varied IT solutions.
  • Perform all necessary discovery and fact-finding to fully understand business problems and opportunities.
  • Provide input into solution buy vs. build recommendations to management when requested.
  • Effectively communicate development and production issues to the project team, applicable vendors, and/or the manager in a timely manner.
  • Research and stay abreast of technology trends and IT best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM related major.
  • 3+ years direct development experience in AWS Cloud.
  • Experience with at least one data integration/ETL/ELT technology (e.g., Qlik/Attunity Replicate, Qlik Compose, Streamsets, Nifi, Informatica, AbInitio, Talend or similar).
  • Experience with any one data warehouse or data lake platform (e.g., Snowflake, Teradata, Hadoop).
  • Intermediate skill in at least one development language (e.g., Python preferred, Java).
  • Good understanding of data warehouse concepts (e.g., type-1 and type-2 data, star schema) and intermediate SQL programming and data analysis skills.
  • If no degree, 5 years of the experiences listed above.
  • If Master's degree in STEM or related major, 1 year of experience as listed above.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large and complex data sets.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with vendors and business partners for solutions.

  • Cloud-based solution design and engineering, understanding of AWS Stack is a plus.
