About the position

The ETL Developer II - Finance at Nationwide Children's Hospital is responsible for cleaning, manipulating, and modeling data from electronic medical records (EMR) and external data sources to maximize organizational value. This role involves collecting metadata and business process information, analyzing it to provide insights, and recommending standardization of data definitions and processes. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective data solutions and ETL processes are implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the requirements collection, design, and delivery of the data solutions and ETL processes.
  • Code and document scripts and stored procedures; design and implement data strategy methods.
  • Perform data sourcing analysis and data dictionary administration, including developing new data dictionaries.
  • Define and implement best practices for ETL design; develop and implement data modeling standards including element naming conventions.
  • Transform business requirements into logical data models.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy dashboards, reports, and alerts/notifications for the presentation of business metrics according to business user requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Services.
  • 3 years of progressive data warehousing/database experience (e.g. Consultant, Systems Analyst, Software Engineer).
  • Experience working with healthcare data, specifically healthcare claims data, is preferred.
  • Experience creating dashboards in a Business Intelligence tool, with Power BI or Qlik preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospital coding systems (ICD, CPT, MSDRG, APRDRG) and experience using medical terminology.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong SQL skills required; Oracle or SQL Server preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to test and validate data and evaluate large and complex information sets.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group, including executives and managers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
