The Network Engineer (Enterprise Data Center/ACI/APIC) position at Navy Federal Credit Union involves extensive hands-on experience with Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) engineering principles and Storage Area Networks (SAN). The role requires the architecting of solutions and providing technical direction and engineering support for various projects and infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for researching, evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining system and product solutions, applying their knowledge of ACI. This position emphasizes the importance of developing and maintaining an advanced functional knowledge of evolving IT engineering industry technologies, competition, concepts, and trends. In this role, the engineer will plan, test, and implement upgrades using the Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC). Daily operational duties supporting the Data Center Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) will be automated and performed by the engineer. The networking environment will be expanded and maintained as necessary by establishing system configurations, directing system installation, and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. The engineer will also establish configuration standards, configure routing and switching equipment, maximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, schedule upgrades, and collaborate with other network architects on network optimization. The position requires the establishment and leadership of project teams, development of engineering project plans, scope, schedule, cost, and communications, ensuring successful project implementation, and providing input for budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipment. The engineer will apply engineering principles to the design and enhancement of new and existing systems, document new system components or modifications to existing components, and ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions, including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering, and Information Security principles and practices. Additionally, the engineer will perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needs, conduct engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems, and present clear, organized, and concise information to all audiences through various media to enable effective business decisions. Mentoring less experienced staff is also a key responsibility of this role.
