The Network Engineer (Enterprise Data Center/ACI/APIC) position at Navy Federal Credit Union involves extensive hands-on experience with Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) engineering principles and Storage Area Networks (SAN). The role requires the architecting of solutions and providing technical direction and engineering support for various projects and infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for researching, evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining system and product solutions, applying their knowledge of ACI. This position emphasizes the importance of providing technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure, ensuring that the systems are robust and efficient. In this role, the engineer will plan, test, and implement upgrades using the Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC). Daily operational duties will include automating and performing tasks that support the Data Center Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). The engineer will also be tasked with expanding and maintaining the networking environment by establishing system configurations, directing system installations, and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Additionally, the engineer will maximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, schedule upgrades, and collaborate with other network architects on network optimization. The position requires establishing and leading project teams, developing engineering project plans, scopes, schedules, costs, and communications to ensure successful project implementation. The engineer will provide input and make budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipment, applying engineering principles to the design and enhancement of new and existing systems. Documentation of new system components or modifications to existing components is also a critical responsibility. Ensuring the security and integrity of system and product solutions, including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering, and Information Security principles and practices, is paramount. The engineer will perform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needs, conduct technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systems, and present clear, organized, and concise information to all audiences to enable effective business decisions. Furthermore, the engineer will lead, guide, and mentor less experienced staff and perform other duties as assigned.
