About the position

The CICS and MQ Systems Programmer at Navy Federal Credit Union is responsible for providing 24x7x365 administrative support for CICS Transaction Server and WebSphere MQ. This role involves maintaining high availability in production and test environments, troubleshooting issues, and deploying software updates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe systems programming and a passion for problem-solving and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7x365 administrative support for CICS and MQ environments.
• Maintain high availability of production and test CICS environments.
• Plan, document, and deploy software updates to multiple environments.
• Lead project teams and manage full life-cycle project management.
• Develop project plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Ensure successful project implementation and manage risks, issues, and changes.
• Guide and mentor less experienced staff.
• Document new system components and modifications to existing components.
• Ensure security and integrity of system solutions in compliance with industry standards.
• Perform engineering tasks in support of business needs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in mainframe CICS and/or WebSphere MQ systems programming.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, document, and deploy software updates.
• Experience with WebSphere MQ queue sharing group configuration and tuning.
• Recent experience with CICS configuration and production support.
• Ability to interact with management and work as part of a team.
• Experience with VSAM, DB2 in CICS, Unix System Services or Linux, and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with programming in assembler, COBOL, Python, and/or Java.
