About the position

This role will function as the senior technical leader for all managed VPC (virtual private cloud) workloads under the Cloud Native Engineering organization. The primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership and direction for a team of highly skilled professionals responsible for cloud-native product engineering across various domains, including security, software-defined networking, Infrastructure as Code, data automation, containerized platforms, site reliability engineering, and performance and delivery. The successful candidate will partner with product owners, executive leaders, and all Cloud Engineering teams to deliver and enhance secure, high-performing, and highly available products leveraging Infrastructure as Code technologies. The team will engage in research, evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of system and product solutions. The role requires both broad and deep architecture, engineering, and strategic experience with Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud technologies. Specifically, the candidate should possess deep technical expertise in cloud-native software-defined networking, cloud security, cloud platforms, SRE practices, and Azure Infrastructure as Code modules. Familiarity with Azure Data services, Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines, Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is essential. The candidate should have a history of technical leadership for product engineering deliveries and support in very technically complex environments. Responsibilities

  • Set high-level technical direction for the team in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with executive leadership, product owners, and organizational partners for team and overall business success.
  • Develop roadmaps for cloud-native product enhancements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for evolving cloud services across the Azure tenant.
  • Influence, advocate for, and champion leadership's collective vision.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Product Engineering expertise.
  • Broad and deep Cloud engineering expertise.
  • Strong technical leadership skills with a successful track record of cloud delivery; partnership with, and influence of executive leadership.
  • Advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code principles (IaC) and engineering IaC deployments via Azure DevOps including modules, Pipelines, and Repos.
  • Advanced experience in scripting with Windows PowerShell.
  • Advanced expertise in engineering Azure security platforms including Azure Policy, Azure Security Center, and optionally Sentinel and M365 Defender.
  • Advanced expertise in engineering Azure Platform as a Service (Azure PaaS) including but not limited to: Storage Accounts, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, Functions, Logic Apps, Web Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Active Directory, Application Insights, Virtual Networks, Application Gateway, Load Balancers.
  • Advanced expertise in engineering Azure Infrastructure as a Service (Azure IaaS) including but not limited to: Subscriptions, Resource Groups, Virtual Machines, Disks, Managed Disks, Availability Zones, Availability Sets, Azure Monitor, etc.
  • Intermediate expertise in engineering Azure Automation OMS, State Configuration (Azure DSC), Update Management, Runbooks, Inventory Management, Change Tracking.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, TCP/IP, WMI, SNMP.
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server usage and administration.
  • Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in IT with an emphasis on Cloud native solutions.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in all or most of the specified technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in general networking including firewalls, routers, proxies, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Strong familiarity with Azure AI services.
  • Intermediate experience with Azure Software as a Service solutions integrations (Azure SaaS).
  • Strong familiarity with Azure Dev Centers (Azure Deployment Environments), Azure DevTest Labs.
