About the position

The EV AER Development Engineer at Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is responsible for leading the development and integration of efficient propulsion system technologies for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis electric vehicles. This role involves supporting the investigation of new technologies aimed at enhancing vehicle energy efficiency and performance, while also collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The position is based in Superior Township, MI, and requires both domestic and international travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Support and establish targets for EV energy efficiency (MPGe) through testing and analysis of current and developing vehicles.
  • Investigate new or advanced propulsion system technologies to achieve improved vehicle-level efficiency.
  • Analyze competitive data sets and assess future trends in passenger vehicle fuel economy and energy efficiency technologies.
  • Lead activities for developing and integrating new technologies to improve overall vehicle and system efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other teams for testing and development activities related to EV efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of electrified powertrain systems and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience in vehicle instrumentation, test equipment, and experimental setup/design.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and project management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of current and future regulatory requirements related to vehicle efficiency.
  • Ability to create detailed technical reports and present findings effectively.
