About the position

KNBN Newscenter 1, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is seeking an Evening Anchor/Producer to join their team. This role involves reporting news both on-set and in the field, ensuring high-quality journalism while engaging with the local community. Responsibilities

• Anchor daily newscasts and deliver live, scripted, pre-recorded, and breaking news reports.
• Comply with journalism ethics and standards, ensuring a professional appearance and manner throughout broadcasts.
• Write, edit, and produce daily news stories and voice-overs for newscasts.
• Collaborate with newsroom staff to gather and record news content.
• Organize segments to present the most interesting and timely pieces first.
• Research and suggest news and current events on local, state, national, and international levels.
• Interview guests and community members involved in stories.
• Report live spot news stories.
• Establish and maintain news contacts in the community.
• Engage in the local community through public appearances at various events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a news anchor or broadcast reporter is strongly preferred.
• Active social media presence to promote brand awareness.
• Proven media personality with comfort and professionalism on camera.
• General knowledge of local, national, and international affairs.
• Passion for breaking news and current events.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Ethical and professional research, writing, and reporting skills.
• Team player who works well collaboratively and independently.
