About the position

The Evening Building Operations Manager at Brigham Young University is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned buildings, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and effective event management. This part-time role involves leading a team of employees, providing training on safety protocols, and maintaining communication with building patrons. The position requires a commitment to the university's mission and values, fostering a culture of belonging and professional development among staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned buildings and support area-related events.
  • Provide leadership, training, and job oversight to all employees.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned buildings and manage part-time and student employees.
  • Mentor and train employees on proper cleaning techniques and equipment use.
  • Ensure proper setup and cleanup for scheduled events in the buildings.
  • Maintain accurate communication between employees and patrons.
  • Verify inventory levels of chemicals and supplies and ensure equipment maintenance.
  • Work within an assigned labor budget of $300,000+ and manage building keys and security issues.
  • Ensure building walkways and entries are cleared of snow/ice and communicate exterior issues.
  • Lead a team of 10-150 student employees and manage operations of 100,000-750,000 sq. ft. of building space.

Requirements

  • One year of professional experience in building operations or managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree, 3 years of Building Operations experience, and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Building Operations equipment and its application to cleaning needs.
  • Competent in all aspects of cleaning and able to teach part-time employees.
  • Knowledge of various methods of carpet and floor care and specific chemical use and hazards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledgeable in basics of computer skills and necessary paperwork such as timecards and inventories.
