About the position

The Evening Custodian at Little Panthers Preschool is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment for students and staff. This full-time position involves various cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring the building is secure and well-kept, and supporting the overall functionality of the school facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day.
• Ensure all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off, except those left on for safety reasons.
• Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
• Handle mechanical functions of the building and maintain a regular service schedule on all motors and equipment.
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for appropriate seasonal temperatures.
• Shovel, plow, and/or sand sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas as necessary.
• Check daily to ensure all exit doors are operating properly.
• Raise and lower the U.S. and Nebraska flag as needed.
• Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture.
• Clean corridors as often as required and scrub toilet floors daily.
• Wash all windows at least twice a year and more frequently if necessary.
• Maintain floors in a clean and attractive condition, waxing and refinishing as needed.
• Clean chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a week.
• Move furniture and equipment as required for various activities.
• Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs promptly.
• Perform cleaning duties outside the school building as necessary.
• Report any damage to school property immediately.
• Collaborate with other custodians and building staff to address building issues.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and report daily to the building supervisor.
• Assist with special building events as needed.
• Remain on the school premises when the building is in use and attendance is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Participation in additional training as needed.

Benefits

• Pay rate includes $.44 night pay.
