About the position
We are seeking a friendly, responsible Front Desk Associate to join our team at the Jailhouse Inn, a unique 23-room inn located in downtown Newport, RI. The Jailhouse Inn is not just any inn; it is the original police station of Newport, dating back to 1772, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Converted into an inn in 1986, it offers a distinctive experience for guests looking to stay in a piece of history. The ideal candidate for this position will be engaging, professional, and familiar with the downtown Newport area, ensuring that guests have a memorable stay. As a Front Desk Associate, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to the smooth operation of the inn. This includes taking phone and internet reservations, checking guests in and out, and answering questions about local restaurants and attractions. You will also assist guests with their luggage when necessary, embodying the spirit of hospitality that the Jailhouse Inn prides itself on. The position requires a willingness to do whatever it takes to keep the inn running smoothly while ensuring that guests enjoy their stay. The available shifts for this position are evenings from 3 PM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday. It is important to note that the Jailhouse Inn has three floors and no elevator, so candidates must be willing and able to climb stairs as part of their daily responsibilities. We are happy to train the right person, even if they do not have prior hospitality experience, as long as they possess a friendly demeanor and a commitment to excellent customer service.
