About the position

The Evening News Anchor/Multi-Skilled Journalist at TEGNA Inc. is responsible for attracting an audience through compelling presentation and producing high-quality journalism. This role requires a dynamic delivery, excellent interviewing and writing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively during breaking news situations. The successful candidate will lead newscasts, collaborate with team members, and contribute to the growth of a brand known for outstanding storytelling and community-focused content.

Responsibilities

• Anchor multiple evening newscasts.
• Creatively build and leverage external partnerships to forge new relationships and increase community impact.
• Generate unique and compelling stories and show ideas around topics impacting our community.
• Take a leadership role in newscast content and production.
• Represent 12News and its community-focused brand at station events, civic engagements, and other public appearances.
• Knowledge of rundown software to help producers/reporters when needed.
• Collaborate with producers, reporters, photojournalists, managers, and other team members.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of journalism experience, including regular opportunities to anchor newscasts.
• Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
• Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills.
• Strong social media presence.
• Strong leadership qualities with prior experience in motivating, engaging, and recognizing team members on multiple projects.
• Passion for being involved in the community and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Innovative mindset that can challenge the status quo and bring forward new ideas to evolve both linear and digital content.
• The ability to coach and collaborate with teammates on content projects.
• Sound news judgment and a proven track record of producing enterprise content.
