About the position

The Event and Operations Coordinator at Boise State University is responsible for planning and coordinating equipment and facility set-up for various events, including meetings and conferences. This role involves supervising the maintenance and security of state buildings, ensuring smooth operations during events, and addressing any issues that arise. The position is integral to the Student Union Events team, providing support for a range of activities while allowing the coordinator to pursue their degree with a tuition waiver.

Responsibilities

  • Determine equipment and supply needs for scheduled events and inspect rooms prior to events to ensure proper configurations.
  • Supervise staff to ensure smooth operation of events and resolve questions and concerns.
  • Establish rapport and maintain communication with facility users to ensure all needs are met.
  • Identify or anticipate problems and take corrective action; collect user feedback and evaluate program success and patron satisfaction.
  • Monitor facility use by individuals; provide leadership and technical assistance to staff and patrons; observe, respond to and report unusual occurrences.
  • Set standards for and monitor employee conduct and building operation; develop and prepare facility use and staffing reports; hire and train staff.
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures; identify needs and plan and supervise housekeeping, audio-visual, and program set-up.
  • Responsible for inventory control and supply purchasing for Operations team and office supplies for Student Union Building.
  • Coordinate trash service pickup and signage throughout the Student Union Building.
  • Coordinate staffing and equipment for event operations setup, strike, and turn for events occurring in various locations supported by University Event Services.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
  • Experience resolving customer service problems.
  • Ability to assess event set-up needs and requirements.
  • Experience developing written reports.
  • Experience operating and maintaining commercial lighting, audio-visual, and sound equipment.
