About the position

The Event and Race Manager at the U.S. National Whitewater Center is responsible for the strategic planning, budgeting, coordination, and follow-up of all public-facing events. This role involves managing a variety of events, including festivals, races, concerts, and other programming, ensuring a high standard of customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in collaborative, strategic meetings to improve efficiency and guest experience.
  • Evaluate and assess current programming to ensure success and growth of future events.
  • Directly manage and lead a small team of full-time and part-time employees.
  • Maintain accurate profit and loss statements.
  • Work closely with all Whitewater departments to forecast needs and plan for day-of logistics.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service for participants and have in-depth knowledge of the organization, products, and services.
  • Develop processes and procedures throughout the department.
  • Manage an efficient operation, demonstrating fiscal awareness, and ensuring effective execution of tasks and utilization of resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Business, Hospitality, Outdoor Recreation or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in management and/or leadership.
  • Experience managing profit and loss statements.
  • Ability to think critically and be proactive.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
