About the position

Green Valley Grill is seeking a friendly and energetic Event Manager to join their team of enthusiastic event professionals. This role is crucial in providing outstanding experiences to guests in a fast-paced environment. The Event Manager will be responsible for ensuring that every guest interaction is exceptional, advocating for guests, and leading a team dedicated to delivering high-quality service during events. The position requires a commitment to the organization's mission of genuine service to guests, fellow staff members, and the community. The Event Manager will oversee the setup of event spaces, serve catered food and beverages, and possess extensive knowledge of the restaurant's seasonal menu offerings. Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards is paramount, as is acting with diplomacy and tact in all interactions. The role also involves recruiting, hiring, and training event staff, ensuring that the team is adequately staffed for events. Additionally, the Event Manager will implement sustainable practices, manage financial aspects of events, and ensure daily operational controls are in place, including payroll tracking and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and perform consistently following the mission and values of the organization.
  • Advocate for guests, ensuring each leaves with an incredible experience.
  • Lead a team responsible for delivering service to event guests, including setting up event spaces and serving food and beverages.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of catering menus, pricing, and seasonal offerings.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met at all times.
  • Act as a leader with diplomacy and tact in all interactions.
  • Recruit, hire, and train all event staff members, ensuring the team is fully staffed.
  • Write and ensure all schedules are completed with the correct staffing based on availability.
  • Implement and train sustainable practices initiatives.
  • Anticipate revenue and cost issues, managing discretionary expenditures to stabilize cash flow.
  • Identify major revenue and expense opportunities and possible issues.
  • Ensure daily controls are in place, including checklists, payroll tracking, and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Clear understanding of the banquet/event process.
  • Friendly, energetic, and detail-oriented personality.
  • Passion for hospitality and great interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Understanding of Delphi; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and creating spreadsheets.
  • Understanding of financial data and ability to retain and recall detailed information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of event planning software.
