About the position

The Event Coordinator at the Culinary Institute of Charleston plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Conference Services and Event Managers in managing reservations and coordinating various events and conference service operations. This part-time position involves working closely with a diverse range of customers and vendors who utilize the facilities, ensuring that all event details are meticulously arranged and executed. The coordinator is responsible for liaising with set-up staff and the food service contractor to ensure that all aspects of the events are handled smoothly and efficiently. This role is integral to the operations of the Culinary Institute of Charleston, contributing to the overall success of events held at the institute. In addition to coordinating events, the Event Coordinator will be expected to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, as they will interact with clients and vendors regularly. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The coordinator must be detail-oriented and capable of lifting up to 20 pounds, as physical tasks may be involved in setting up for events. The role also requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate the scheduling needs of various events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Conference Services and Event Managers with taking reservations for events.
  • Coordinate all aspects of events and Conference Service Operations.
  • Work with various customers and vendors utilizing the facilities.
  • Arrange event details with set-up staff and food service contractors.
  • Support the Culinary Institute of Charleston in various responsibilities related to event coordination.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Related event experience is required.
  • Ability to work 30-35 hours weekly, including weekends and evenings.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Previous event planning experience.
  • Knowledge of Delphi operating systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with general office practices, procedures, and filing systems.
