About the position

The Event Manager at Trilith Guesthouse in Fayetteville, Georgia, is a pivotal role responsible for the coordination and supervision of group business after it has been booked by the sales and catering department. This position is essential in maintaining profitable operations while ensuring high-quality products and service levels. The Event Manager acts as a liaison between clients and operating departments, ensuring that every event is executed successfully and that client expectations are met, which in turn fosters repeat business. In this role, the Event Manager will provide overall direction and ongoing evaluation of operations for group, catering, or in-house events. They will ensure that events progress seamlessly by adhering to established procedures and collaborating with various employees and departments to ensure accuracy. The Event Manager will conduct on-site inspections, prepare all necessary event documentation, and coordinate with sales, property departments, and clients to maintain a consistent and high level of service throughout all phases of property events. The Event Manager will also be responsible for generating resumes, addendums, menus, and Event Orders (EOs), as well as managing sleeping room blocks and ensuring effective follow-up with clients. They will need to understand group and catering forecasting, hotel revenue strategy, and event technology to assist clients with menu planning and room setups while adhering to budget constraints. Additionally, the Event Manager will lead pre- and post-con meetings to review group needs and feedback, recognize opportunities to maximize revenue through upselling, and respond to customer trends and issues to enhance future sales prospects. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, as the Event Manager will be expected to deliver excellent service throughout the customer experience and encourage the same from other employees. They will also need to maintain up-to-date details on events and communicate effectively with staff to ensure smooth operations. The Event Manager will be visible on the floor, assisting staff as needed, and will take initiative to improve service performance based on their evaluations of issues and resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise group business after it is booked by the sales and catering department.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and operating departments to ensure successful meetings.
  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments, and clients.
  • Generate resumes, addendums, menus, and Event Orders (EOs).
  • Manage sleeping room blocks and keep clients informed of potential attrition.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and follow up with clients post-event.
  • Lead pre- and post-con meetings to review group needs and feedback.
  • Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering enhancements.
  • Respond to customer trends, needs, issues, and complaints to ensure quality experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date details on events and communicate with staff.

Requirements

  • Current or very recent Marriott experience preferred.
  • Two or four-year degree from a college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong computer skills including excellent knowledge of Word and Excel software programs.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following systems: Marriott CI/TY.
  • Ability to plan and develop procedures on all sales programs.
  • Knowledge of various food service styles and menu development.
  • Ability to work extended hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency in the English language both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of market trends, competition, and key customers of the hotel.
  • Experience in event management trends and community involvement.
