About the position

Maurten is a fuel partner to some of the most iconic races in the world, and as such, the North America Events Manager will play a crucial role in the company's expansion in this region. This position is not just about managing events; it is about creating experiences where athletes can engage with the brand and its products in a meaningful way. The role involves leading the planning and coordination of all commercial and marketing events across Canada and the US, ensuring that each event aligns with Maurten's strategic goals and enhances brand loyalty among consumers and retail partners. The North America Events Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of events, from conception to execution. This includes defining the event team, setting responsibilities, and establishing a follow-up procedure to ensure timely planning and execution. The manager will also be tasked with developing and managing the annual events budget, which requires strong organizational and communication skills. A deep understanding of the events landscape is essential, as the manager will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Brand teams to define performance targets for each event and assess their effectiveness against these goals. In addition to managing logistics, budgeting, and vendor negotiations, the North America Events Manager will also be responsible for producing post-event evaluations and preparing debrief reports to inform future events. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively across different teams, time zones, and cultures. The ideal candidate will have a passion for endurance sports and a strong understanding of the athlete culture, enabling them to connect with the target audience authentically.

Responsibilities

  • Define event team members, set responsibilities, and establish a follow-up procedure to reach a timely plan and execution of the agreed strategy for each event.
  • Set up projects in a workflow management platform and lead projects through timely meetings.
  • Liaise with event organizers to find out their exact event terms and requirements.
  • Develop and handle budgeting, invoicing, and logistics for each event, ensuring overall adherence.
  • Liaise and negotiate with event organizers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Handle logistics for event material.
  • Manage a team of on-site staff, giving full briefings of activities.
  • Oversee the dismantling and removal of the event and clear the venue efficiently.
  • Produce post-event evaluation and prepare debrief reports to inform future events.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills; French is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in similar positions with a deep understanding of endurance sports and how to speak to the athletes and culture surrounding them.
  • Proven experience managing budgets and negotiating with event organizers and vendors/suppliers.
  • Comfortable communicating across different teams, time zones, and cultures.
  • Confident in decision-making.
  • Availability to travel - at least 10 weeks/year.
  • Based in Eastern US or Canada.
