About the position

The Office of Reservations and Events at the University of Missouri is dedicated to providing comprehensive logistics and service support for events and meetings across the campus, operating seven days a week. The Manager of Event Operations plays a crucial role in planning and supporting these events, ensuring that all logistical aspects are meticulously handled. This position is responsible for overseeing events in various locations, including the Reynolds Alumni Center, Bond Life Sciences Building, Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health Building, and the Museum of Art and Archeology, among others. The role requires a proactive approach to planning, anticipating potential issues, and managing complex logistics effectively. In addition to office planning, the Manager will be actively involved in on-site event support, which includes setting up and operating advanced theatrical and event lighting, audio, and video systems. The ability to create and maintain detailed planning documents is essential for coordinating the use of equipment, vehicles, and staffing for each event. The Manager will also prepare operations planning notes to inform crews of their responsibilities and daily activities, ensuring smooth execution of events. Collaboration with other planners and coordinators is vital to clarify and expand on event needs, while also assessing and maintaining the equipment inventory for assigned buildings and the general campus. The Manager will supervise event crews, execute setups, and respond to real-time requests for assistance during events. This position requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and customer service skills to ensure that all events meet the high standards expected by clients and attendees.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain planning documents to coordinate use of equipment, vehicles, and staffing.
  • Prepare operations planning notes to inform crews of their per event and daily activities.
  • Work with other planners and coordinators to clarify and expand on event needs.
  • Assess, maintain, and add to the equipment inventory for assigned buildings and general campus.
  • Prepare and process weekly linen orders.
  • Directly supervise crews and execute event setups and operations.
  • Act as operations Lead to monitor and respond to requests for help via radio, chat, text, or phone call.
  • Maintain fleet of service vehicles.
  • Work on additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in event logistics or a related field.
  • Experience working with college students.
  • Customer service skills and experience directly working with clients to achieve their desired results in an event setting.
  • Advanced skills in the setup and operation of theatrical/event lighting, audio, and video.
  • Experience with EMS (event management software).
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to drive a 16' straight box truck as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EMS Reservation Software.
  • More than 2 years' experience in event logistics.
