The award-winning AAA 5-Diamond Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club is looking for an Event Manager, Social and Weddings to join the Catering and Events team! Located in the beautiful coastal town of Dana Point adjacent to Laguna Beach, this town played an iconic role in the emergence of California's surf culture and today is celebrated for its laid-back vibe and fun, active lifestyle. The resort is perched on 175 acres atop a 150-foot seaside bluff with over 400 rooms, 115,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, and 8 food and Beverage outlets. This includes 4 restaurants, a beach club, lounge, marketplace, and IRD. In this role, you will craft events with creativity to maximize revenue and enhance the event experience. A crucial aspect is the maintenance of established relationships with weddings and social accounts. As an Event Manager specializing in Weddings and Social events, your responsibilities encompass documenting events and liaising with hotel departments and clients to guarantee uniform, superior service during all stages of the events. You will pinpoint opportunities to boost revenue through upselling and offering additional features to produce outstanding events. Moreover, you will serve as the main point of contact for the event planner following the initial handover at the venue.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and supervision to affected departments and team members during the execution of meeting and/or event.
  • Directly serve on site group and catering customers in a proactive manner.
  • Organize, plan and prioritize duties by developing plans and goals.
  • Timely communication to internal and external clients via telephone, email, written documents or in person.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, booking systems, and processes.
  • Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others while handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.
  • Sell and influence both internal and external clients.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating the issues and determine the best solution.
  • Ensure high quality service by communicating and assisting others to understand the guest needs, providing direction and guidance, feedback and individual coaching when needed.
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary.
  • Other duties as necessary based on business needs.
  • Regular attendance.

Requirements

  • Minimum Years of Experience: one (1) year Hospitality related experience at manager level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems (Delphi.fdc)
  • Significant experience in revenue management or a similar analytical role
  • Relevant degree, in business development or other relevant business field, from an academic institution (CMP, CPCE)
