About the position

The Event Manager at The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all events hosted by The Center, which includes both internal and external gatherings. This position requires a dynamic individual who can effectively plan, execute, and evaluate events in collaboration with the Marketing Department, ensuring that all activities align with the organization's goals and budgetary constraints. The Event Manager will be instrumental in developing and implementing event strategies that encompass timing, purpose, and fundraising objectives, thereby contributing to the overall mission of The Center. In this role, the Event Manager will manage all aspects of event planning and execution, which includes working closely with the Volunteer Manager and Facilities team to coordinate events such as Donor Appreciation, Volunteer Appreciation, and Pride Month celebrations. The position also involves overseeing third-party events, which entails discovery, approval processes, agreements, and coordination of volunteers and facilities. Collaboration with the marketing team is essential for creating collateral materials, managing email engagement, and developing effective marketing strategies to promote events. Additionally, the Event Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate data entry in internal customer relationship databases to capture and manage event and donor information. This includes managing event and venue planning, vendor coordination, and providing support for volunteers. The role also requires tracking event invoices and in-kind donations, processing related documentation, and conducting outreach to current community partners while developing new relationships to enhance The Center's community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement event strategies in collaboration with the Marketing Department, including timing, purpose, and fundraising goals.
  • Plan and execute events within budget using independent judgment.
  • Manage all aspects of events, including collaborating with the Volunteer Manager and Facilities for events such as Donor Appreciation, Volunteer Appreciation, and Pride Month.
  • Oversee third-party events, including discovery, approval, agreements, and volunteer and facilities coordination.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on collateral materials, ordering materials, email engagement, and marketing strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date data entry in internal customer relationship databases for capturing and maintaining event and donor information.
  • Manage event and venue planning, vendor coordination, and volunteer support.
  • Provide hospitality support for internal meetings.
  • Track event invoices and in-kind donations and process related documentation.
  • Conduct outreach to current community partners and develop new relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community organization or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe experience is required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Bilingual preferred English/Spanish.
