About the position

The Event Manager position at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is a pivotal role within ASM Global, a leader in managing public assembly facilities. This position is responsible for providing professional client services support throughout the planning, organization, and management of events held at the facility. The Event Manager will oversee all logistics related to events, ensuring that every detail is meticulously coordinated from the moment an event is booked until its conclusion. This includes direct interaction with clients to understand their needs, guiding them through the preparation process, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. The Event Manager will meet with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and events, coordinating activities with various service contractors to ensure seamless execution. They will keep clients informed about deadlines and requirements, such as floor plan submissions and insurance needs, while also preparing cost estimates and monitoring final billing. Clear and timely communication with operational departments is essential, as the Event Manager will assist in scheduling set-ups and monitoring facility arrangements. In addition to these responsibilities, the Event Manager will serve as the primary liaison between clients and facility departments, maintaining close contact during events to address any requests or concerns. They will also attend relevant planning and operational meetings to support the overall functioning of the facility. This role may require the Event Manager to serve as the manager on duty as needed, ensuring that all events run smoothly and successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of facility operations related to events and assists with supervision of Event Services staff.
  • Meets with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and/or events.
  • Coordinates activities with the various service contractors for assigned meetings and/or events.
  • Guides clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining contract provisions, policies and procedures.
  • Keeps clients informed as to status of deadline schedules, including but not limited to floor plan submissions, room set-up specifications, insurance requirements and other relevant details.
  • Prepares cost estimates and monitors final billing.
  • Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed requirements to operational departments.
  • Assists in scheduling operational set-ups to provide equipment or service needs.
  • Monitors and supervises facility set-up when necessary.
  • Serves as primary liaison between clients and facility departments.
  • Monitors in-house events, maintaining close contact with clients and facility staff to ensure successful events.
  • Follows-up on all client requests, concerns, and problems.
  • Attends appropriate planning, organization and other event and facility meetings in support of facility operations.
  • Serves as manager on duty as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of facility management, services, and equipment for a similar facility.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
