About the position

The Event Manager at the Florida Panthers is responsible for overseeing the logistical planning and execution of events at the Amerant Bank Arena and FTL War Memorial. This role involves collaboration with various departments and external partners to ensure successful event operations, including hockey games, concerts, and other entertainment activities. The Event Manager will manage relationships, develop event plans, and ensure client satisfaction while maintaining facility safety and readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships between Amerant Bank Arena, the Florida Panthers, War Memorial Auditorium, clients, promoters, partners, and vendors.
  • Develop and build events from production notes and other forms of communication.
  • Thoroughly disseminate event information to appropriate departments through meetings, event sheets, and walkthroughs of the building.
  • Compose outlines detailing all event setup needs, including venue access, security, and show run times.
  • Assemble show costs for billing and settlement in advance of events.
  • Schedule rigging and labor for show load-in, performance, and breakdown as requested by the promoter.
  • Develop and consistently execute standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Create on-sale and facility maps using AutoCAD, including all pertinent operational information for events.
  • Participate in, and occasionally conduct, regular departmental meetings to communicate relevant information to staff.
  • Build and maintain high team morale, fostering a positive, upbeat work environment.
  • Ensure facility safety, readiness, and client satisfaction, while safeguarding the arena's interests and enforcing all necessary facility policies.
  • Participate in production walkthroughs and meetings for future events as requested by the Programming department.
  • Provide event estimates for potential and confirmed events as requested.
  • Conduct physical inspections of all areas of the arena to ensure proper setup and patron safety.
  • Notify the VP, Facility Operations or Sr. Manager, Facilities of any equipment in need of repair or replacement.
  • Interact with Guest Experience department as needed, addressing and resolving stressful guest conflicts in a time-critical manner.
  • Collaborate with the Box Office on house scaling, production kills, and show builds.
  • Act as 'Manager on Duty' when a senior executive is not present.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple high-priority tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of event management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on-call to build shows when not at the facility.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple projects on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate internal departments and external organizations to build relationships and gain support; strong teamwork and collaboration skills are required.
  • Knowledge of facility management principles, building operations, and safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with fire and safety codes, health codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Ability to think creatively, work independently, be self-directed, and show initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on business writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and MS Outlook.
  • Experience with CAD is preferred.
