About the position

The Event Manager at Marbles Kids Museum is responsible for leading the planning and execution of family-friendly events and private facility rentals. This role involves coordinating logistics, promoting the venue, managing budgets, and ensuring a memorable experience for guests. The Event Manager will work closely with various teams and vendors to bring events to life while also overseeing a team of event hosts and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, logistics, and execution of family-friendly and 21 Marbles events.
  • Coordinates event planning to execution in collaboration with team members.
  • Promotes Marbles to prospective facility rental clients through various communication methods.
  • Supports the planning and execution of private facility rentals.
  • Collaborates with vendors, security, and internal teams for event needs.
  • Creates requests for proposals (RFPs) as needed.
  • Communicates with area businesses for in-kind donations and discounts.
  • Develops and meets sales goals for private facility rentals.
  • Manages budgets, financials, and timelines for events.
  • Secures necessary permits and vendor contracts.
  • Builds and maintains relationships in the event industry.
  • Responsible for strategic planning of the Special Events & Facility Rentals department.
  • Maintains organization of event-related products and catering kitchens.
  • Serves as an event host or support for daytime and evening events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Event Planning or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience in event planning, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
  • Outstanding project management expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Superb time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to respond to problems and assist clients in a calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective feedback and receive coaching.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of event permits and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
