About the position

ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public facilities, is seeking an Event Manager for the Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This full-time position offers an annual salary range of $80,000 to $95,000 and reports directly to the Director of Events. The Event Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing event logistics from the initial stages of advancing a show to the final load-out and event settlement. This role serves as the facility liaison to promoters and clients, ensuring that all aspects of events, including concerts, community and corporate events, family shows, and sporting events, are managed effectively. The Event Manager will work closely with promoters and clients to understand their expectations for successful events. This includes establishing event needs, communicating staffing and logistical requirements to internal departments and external vendors, and ensuring the proper execution of staffing deployments, equipment rentals, and house logistics. The role also involves preparing event and labor estimates, collecting cost estimates based on event needs, and collaborating with internal department heads to recommend appropriate staffing levels. The Event Manager will oversee union crew members and contractors, ensuring compliance with ASM Global standards and contractual obligations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Event Manager will assist the finance department with timely and accurate event settlements and support various projects and special assignments as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong leadership skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, and patrons. The Event Manager must also be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations, working according to established standards and procedures set by ASM Global leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute event logistics from start to finish.
  • Serve as facility liaison to promoters and clients.
  • Establish event needs based on promoter and client expectations.
  • Communicate staffing and logistical needs to internal departments and outside agencies and vendors.
  • Ensure proper execution of staffing deployments, equipment rentals, and house logistics to meet promoter and client expectations.
  • Prepare event and labor estimates.
  • Collect cost estimates based on event needs and promoter/client requests.
  • Work with internal department heads on recommended staffing levels.
  • Ensure contractual obligations and policies are maintained.
  • Prepare seating and event diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Oversee union crew members and contractors to ensure satisfactory work and compliance with ASM Global standards.
  • Work with finance department on timely and accurate event settlements.
  • Assist department and organization with various projects and special assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year).
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in concerts, community & corporate events, family shows, and sporting events.
  • Previous event experience and/or production experience involving event set-up, audio, video, lighting, and rigging.
  • Previous supervisory experience of event staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Knowledge of concert and production event management and/or event operations.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); ability to learn AutoCAD and other required business systems.
  • Ability to be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Significant skills and aptitude in leadership, judgment, decision making, and resolution of complex issues.
  • Ability to create strong relationships and lead a team.
