About the position

The Event Manager at Global Leadership Network (GLN) is responsible for providing operational leadership for the execution of the annual Global Leadership Summit (GLS) and other in-person events. This role involves strategic planning, coordination with various departments, managing event logistics, and ensuring a welcoming experience for attendees. The Event Manager will also oversee budget management and vendor relations, contributing to the mission of GLN to inspire and equip leaders globally.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan event operations including timelines, schedules, and floor plans.
  • Craft energizing and welcoming experiences for large groups attending the GLS.
  • Prepare and oversee the on-site Resource Center at the GLS.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments such as Marketing, Human Resources, Technology, International, Development, Product Team, and Production.
  • Lead post-event debrief sessions with key team members and volunteers.
  • Lead the Logistics Team, equipping and empowering volunteer leaders for event execution.
  • Host monthly Volunteer Team leader meetings.
  • Hire, onboard, and train four to six summer interns.
  • Manage ongoing relations with key vendors including caterers, hotels, and promotional material providers.
  • Construct and manage the annual GLS budget, maintaining and reconciling expenses each month.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of event planning experience for events of 1,000+ attendees.
  • Experience in leading, training, and developing volunteers and teams.
  • Positive relationships with vendors in the hospitality field.
  • Experience managing budgets of $200k+.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Monday.com.
  • Ability to see the big picture while focusing on detail and resolving problems.
  • Strong communication skills and highly relational.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Basecamp or similar project management tools.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry standards and practices.
