About the position

The Event Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in the Office of Reservations and Events at the University of Missouri, responsible for coordinating staffing needs for student staff who support event operations. This position involves recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating a workforce of 30-40 students, ensuring effective support for events and meetings across the campus. The coordinator may also directly plan and execute event details as necessary, contributing to the overall success of campus events.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily coordination and scheduling of Event Operations staff to meet the dynamic needs of the department.
• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate student employees for on-site supervisory and support roles.
• Provide on-site senior leadership in rotation with other full-time department staff.
• Directly plan, coordinate, or execute event details as needed.
• Evaluate and recommend process and procedure changes to improve the student workforce's quality and efficiency.
• Work on additional projects as assigned by senior level management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Experience working with college students.
• Customer service skills and experience in event settings.
• Experience with multitasking and delegating tasks.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to drive a 16' straight box truck as needed.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
