About the position

The Event Operations Manager at The Westin Sarasota is responsible for overseeing the floor operations to ensure service excellence, with a strong emphasis on customer service, staff leadership, performance management, and development. This role is crucial in achieving the overall goals of the organization through effective workforce management and inventory cost control. The position reports directly to either an Operations Director or Director of Event Technology at locations generating over three million dollars in revenue. In this role, the manager will handle daily floor activities and workflow of technicians, ensuring that all equipment and services are delivered on time, in good working condition, and as specified by clients and the hotel. The manager will provide direct supervision of team members, including scheduling and timekeeping, and will ensure that billing is reviewed and approved by clients. Additionally, the manager will oversee inventory control procedures to maintain proper inventory levels while ensuring safety, security, and quality assurance of equipment. Participation in BEO, Pre-Cons, and pre-production meetings is also required, along with the delegation of tasks as appropriate. Customer service is a key component of this position. The manager will review quotes and provide recommendations for cost efficiencies, supervise and mentor operational staff to ensure client satisfaction, and maximize revenue through onsite upselling. Establishing excellent working relationships with internal and external clients, team members, neighboring Encore properties, and vendors is essential. The manager will also meet with guests onsite to ensure their needs are met and that equipment setups are functioning properly, all while maintaining a polished, professional image according to company standards. People development and training are also significant aspects of this role. The manager will promote a positive working environment centered on Encore's core values, hire and develop a talented team of technicians and operational support staff, and drive professional development and training efforts to enhance overall business acumen and technical knowledge. Managing human resource-related issues, including performance management and salary administration, is also part of the responsibilities. The manager will effectively utilize applicable company computer systems and software programs, ensuring that team members are properly trained and recommending additional training opportunities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily floor activities and workflow of technicians to ensure timely delivery of equipment and services.
  • Provide direct supervision of team members, including scheduling and timekeeping.
  • Review and approve billing with clients, advising the Director and/or Sales Manager of potential challenges.
  • Update and complete daily equipment sheets accurately.
  • Manage inventory control procedures to maintain proper inventory levels and ensure safety and quality assurance of equipment.
  • Attend BEO, Pre-Cons, and pre-production meetings as needed and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Review quotes and provide recommendations for cost efficiencies.
  • Supervise and mentor operational staff to ensure client satisfaction and maximize revenue through onsite upselling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 4+ years of audio visual and customer service/hospitality experience, including 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading workflow and team members.
  • Working knowledge of audio visual equipment in a live show environment.
  • Proficiency with the use of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office and the Internet.
  • Effective leadership abilities and a focus on customer satisfaction.
