Full-time
Colorado Springs, CO

About the position

We are seeking an experienced event photographer and videographer for a symposium focused on Cybersecurity, taking place in Downtown Colorado Springs from September 10-12, 2024. This event is organized by the local chapter of a professional society, and we are looking for a team that can capture the essence of the talks and panel sessions through high-quality photography and videography. The ideal candidate will be responsible for documenting the event, which includes taking a large volume of photos from various angles, both candid and posed, and recording video footage of the talks from the back of the room. The event will require your team to be present from 7-7:30 AM for setup until 5 PM each day, with an extended time of 6:30 PM on the 12th. You will be required to report to designated conference organizers throughout the event. Additionally, your video team will need to conduct occasional man-on-the-street interviews with attendees during breaks, which will involve a photographer acting as a reporter while being filmed by the videographer. As this is a volunteer-driven initiative with a limited budget, we encourage local photographers and videographers to apply. While compensation will be provided, we view this as a valuable portfolio-building opportunity, especially since free registration to attend the symposium (valued at approximately $495) is included in the compensation package. It is important to note that coverage is not required on the first day of the event (September 10th), but attendance is mandatory on the following two days (September 11th and 12th).

Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality photographs of talks and panel sessions during the symposium.
  • Record video footage of talks from the back of the room.
  • Conduct man-on-the-street interviews with attendees during breaks.
  • Ensure coverage of all talks where photography is permitted.
  • Take a large volume of photos from various angles, both candid and posed.
  • Report to designated conference organizers throughout the event.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an event photographer and videographer.
  • Ability to provide all necessary equipment for photography and videography.
  • Strong understanding of event coverage, including capturing both candid and posed moments.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in covering cybersecurity or technology-related events.
  • Familiarity with conducting interviews on camera.

Benefits

  • Free registration to attend the symposium (valued at approximately $495).
