About the position

As an Event Planner at Brighthouse Financial, you will manage moderate to large internal and external meetings, conferences, and events for the distribution organization. This role involves supporting the event planning needs of various departments, managing relationships with stakeholders and vendors, and ensuring that events are executed on time and within budget. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing engaging events while providing outstanding client service and maintaining a professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Manage moderate to large internal and external meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute engaging conferences and events, ensuring project plans are on track and on budget.
  • Lead kickoff calls with stakeholders to obtain event objectives and facilitate regular planning meetings.
  • Research and identify event sites and overnight accommodations, coordinating all aspects of planning.
  • Manage partnerships with hotels, including contract negotiation and oversight of attrition and cancellation policies.
  • Prepare meeting and event budgets, uncover cost savings, and reconcile all expenses.
  • Source, develop, and maintain key supplier relationships with vendors.
  • Develop, coordinate, and distribute event materials and communications.
  • Attend events to oversee meeting prep/wrap-up and manage onsite activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of business experience with 5+ years in conference and meeting planning.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Project management skills are a must.
  • Thorough knowledge of hotel operations, meeting facilities, food and beverage service, and audio visual needs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and online research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Meeting and event management certification.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Experience with event management platforms (i.e., Cvent).
