About the position

As an Event Planner at Brighthouse Financial, you will manage moderate to large internal and external meetings, conferences, and events for the distribution organization while also supporting the event planning needs of other departments. This role requires strong relationship management with both internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring that all event needs are anticipated and met efficiently. The position demands excellent client service, a professional attitude, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute engaging conferences and events, ensuring that each project plan is on track, on budget, and deadlines are met.
  • Lead kickoff calls with stakeholders to obtain event objectives and facilitate regular planning meetings.
  • Research and identify event sites and overnight accommodations, conducting RFPs as needed.
  • Coordinate all aspects of planning including food and beverage, transportation, recreational events, audio visual needs, entertainment, and gifting.
  • Manage partnerships with hotels including contract negotiation and oversight on attrition and cancellation policies.
  • Prepare meeting and event budgets, uncover cost savings, review final bills, and reconcile all expenses.
  • Source, develop, and maintain key supplier relationships with vendors.
  • Develop, coordinate, and distribute event materials and communications.
  • Attend events to oversee meeting prep/wrap-up and manage onsite activities to ensure plans are executed and outstanding service is provided.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of hotel operations, meeting facilities, food and beverage service, audio visual needs, transportation services, and entertainment vendors.
  • 5+ years of business experience with 5+ years of experience in conference and meeting planning.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Project management skills a must.
  • The ability to travel and maintain high energy, endurance, and stamina to work long hours before and during events.
  • Creative and innovative team player who generates ideas.
  • The ability to remain calm and stay focused under pressure with strong organizational/time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and online research with deep working knowledge of procurement policies and practices.
  • Experience with event management platforms (i.e., Cvent).
  • Effective communication, focuses on customers, project and relationship management skills, budgeting experience, strong negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Meeting and event management certification.

  • Base salary ranging from $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 plus competitive performance-based incentives.
