About the position

The primary responsibility of the Event Planner - Celebrations is to promote, book and plan celebrations, small VIP groups, and events, as well as liaise with all relevant departments to successfully execute requests and events. These Celebration events may include weddings, birthdays, proposals, anniversaries, vow renewals, reunions, and bachelor/bachelorette parties. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to all incoming inquiries and leads for Celebrations within 24 hours or 1 business day.
  • Responsible for selling/upselling, booking, contracting, and executing designated Celebrations events and following up to enhance post-event guest satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain a strong and positive rapport with guests from the first inquiry to the post-event follow-up.
  • Log all inquiries into EBMS for tracking purposes.
  • Generate all paperwork, collateral, and contracts needed to complete each booking.
  • Work with Resort Services, In Suite Dining/Hospitality, Floral Operations, Technical Services, Concierge, Meeting Services, Box Office, Group Housing, Group Sales, outside vendors, and any other service providers to Celebrations.
  • Schedule visit with clients on site to ensure all needs and expectations have been met and/or exceeded when possible.
  • Responsible for booking all guest appointments as necessary and meeting with guests prior to their event.
  • Strive to meet and exceed departmental and individual financial performance goals.
  • Promote a positive team environment and bring forward process improvement as well as departmental challenges when necessary.
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of and effectively communicate all Celebrations offerings as well as property-wide products and services.
  • Adhere to all current SOPs in regards to transactions and departmental procedures.
  • Responsible for all payment authorizations, including all details and collecting second and final payments.
  • Build and monitor group masters, cutoff dates and group cancellations, releasing any unused rooms at the determined time.
  • Assist with ECO 360 and Sands Cares events when needed.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Health Card, Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 3 years of experience in the hospitality industry, to include but not limited to, experience in Guest Services or working with events preferred.
  • Experience in a 4 or 5 star resort/hotel preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in reading and understanding Event Orders.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Event Business Management System (EBMS) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
