About the position

The Event Planner position at Michaels involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties, within the store. The role focuses on providing a fun and engaging experience for guests while ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency. The Event Planner will engage with clients of all ages, manage multiple events simultaneously, and uphold the company's standards for cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in completing craft projects and perform face painting.
  • Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards, setting up and cleaning before and after events.
  • Help customers shop and locate products, providing solutions and fast checkout experiences.
  • Engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS).
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance tasks.
  • Support shrink and safety programs and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.

Requirements

  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Excellent people skills and experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event planning or coordination.
  • Knowledge of craft projects and activities for children.
