About the position

Rincon Catering, INC. is seeking a passionate and experienced Event Planner to join their team in Carpinteria, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and producing events while managing all project delivery elements within time limits. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The Event Planner will work closely with clients and the Rincon team to ensure memorable events that meet client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and produce events while managing all project delivery elements within time limits.
  • Oversee events from conception through completion.
  • Communicate with clients via phone, email, or in person.
  • Assist in creating bids and preliminary estimates.
  • Meet with potential and existing clients to discuss their needs.
  • Conduct in-house tastings for social/wedding/corporate events after event booking.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify their requirements.
  • Provide feedback and periodic reports to the team and owner.
  • Propose ideas to improve service and event quality.
  • Organize and manage all event details, including decor, catering, entertainment, and transportation.
  • Specify staff requirements for event day to the owner and scheduling manager.
  • Proactively handle issues and troubleshoot any problems on the event day.
  • Attend weekly sales team and weekly BEO review meetings.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in event planning and catering within the hospitality industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in vendor management and on-site logistics.
  • Basic knowledge of catering and event coordination operations.
  • General interest in food, menu design, and creative event development.
