About the position

As an Event Planner at Michaels, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, within the store. Your primary goal is to create a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. You will deliver friendly customer service by assisting customers in finding products and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience. In addition to event planning, you will complete operational tasks such as truck unloading, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold the brand's promises. In your role, you will manage multiple events simultaneously, engaging with clients of all ages, from children to adults, and fostering an environment of creativity and fun. You will demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, perform face painting, and facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards. Communication is key, as you will need to coordinate events with clients and store team members, complete administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls, and adjust plans based on client feedback. Ensuring client satisfaction and upholding cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after each event will be essential. You will also play a vital role in enhancing the customer experience by helping shoppers locate products, providing solutions, and promoting the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. Your responsibilities will include participating in truck unloading, stocking, and maintaining merchandise recovery standards. You will adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements, while also promoting a positive image and serving as a role model for other team members. Additionally, you will be cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production, and participate in daily store cleanliness activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create backup or emergency plans for events as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards before and after each event.
  • Help customers shop and locate products, providing solutions.
  • Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers on the benefits of the Rewards program and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS).
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance tasks.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
  • Interact positively and respectfully with customers and team members.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.

Requirements

  • Excellent people skills and experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
