About the position

We are a Philadelphia-based event illustration business seeking to expand our team by adding 1-2 talented illustrators. This position is ideal for artists who enjoy creating portraits in a lively environment, as you will be rendering portraits on the spot during various events using an iPad and Apple Pencil. The role requires not only artistic skill but also the ability to engage with guests and socialize while working. Artists will be compensated competitively on a per-event basis, making this a great opportunity for those looking for occasional additional income. We are looking for individuals who can maintain a fast pace, sketching portraits in under 10 minutes, preferably within 5-7 minutes, while ensuring a flattering likeness of attendees across various demographics. The ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor, be outgoing, and possess a positive attitude, especially when working under pressure. Reliability and punctuality are crucial, as is having a dependable mode of transportation to reach event locations.

Responsibilities

• Render portraits on the spot during events using an iPad and Apple Pencil.
• Engage and socialize with subjects and surrounding guests while illustrating.
• Maintain a fast sketching pace, ideally completing portraits in 5-7 minutes.
• Create flattering likenesses of attendees of various ages, sexes, and demographics.
• Exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude while working under pressure.

Requirements

• BFA and/or professional art background.
• Comfortable and familiar with using an iPad, Apple Pencil, and Procreate.
• Ability to sketch a portrait in under 10 minutes, preferably 5-7 minutes.
• Must be able to create a flattering likeness of an attendee.
• Outgoing, sociable, and professional demeanor.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Access to a reliable mode of transportation (car).
