The Event Sales Manager at the New York Hilton Midtown is a pivotal role responsible for guiding customers through their event experiences, ensuring that their goals and objectives are met to create compelling events. This position requires a proactive approach to sales, utilizing Encore's established sales processes and methodologies to secure business and maximize revenue capture from an assigned customer base. The Sales Manager will cultivate and maintain relationships with key hotel personnel, enhancing the overall business relationship with the hotel and supporting company initiatives and core values. In this role, the Sales Manager will be tasked with revenue generation by soliciting and securing business through a consultative sales approach. This includes preparing and presenting quotes and proposals in a timely manner, collaborating with vendors and other departments to service events, and attending site visits and pre-conference planning meetings to support customer experiences. A strong understanding of the event cost structure is essential, as the Sales Manager will need to incorporate this into solution designs while adhering to established profitability guidelines. The position also emphasizes relationship management, where the Sales Manager will deliver world-class service by understanding customer history and creating personalized experiences. Maintaining accurate customer information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is crucial, as is actively referring customers through the Encore network to secure additional opportunities. Sales accountability is another key aspect, requiring the Sales Manager to maintain a healthy pipeline, ensure all opportunities are accurately recorded in the CRM, and support sales forecasting efforts. The work environment is dynamic, taking place in a hotel or convention center with varying noise levels and exposure to outdoor conditions. The role may require working irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and adherence to appearance guidelines set by Encore. Team members will also use high-end audio-visual equipment and may work at multiple hotel locations, which adds to the variety and excitement of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Guide customers through event experiences, identifying solutions that meet their goals and objectives.
  • Utilize all available tools to ensure maximum event and revenue capture from assigned customer base.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key hotel personnel to enhance overall business relationships.
  • Solicit and secure business through a proactive, consultative sales approach.
  • Prepare and present quotes and proposals in a timely manner to customers.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other departments to capture and service events.
  • Attend site visits, pre-conference planning meetings, and appropriate venue meetings as necessary.
  • Understand event cost structure and incorporate this into solution designs according to profitability guidelines.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline to ensure achievement of established revenue targets.
  • Ensure all known opportunities are accurately recorded in the CRM at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 1+ years of Encore or equivalent experience required.
  • 1 year of technology sales or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Prior sales experience in audiovisual is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry and sales processes preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and computer proficiency required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
