About the position

The Event Sales Manager at Meydenbauer Center is focused on business development and is responsible for effectively attracting, selling, and marketing Meydenbauer Center to new clients. This position requires extensive securing of sales by reaching out to clients through calls, correspondence, or face-to-face interactions. Good organizational and communication skills and attention to detail is a must. The Event Sales Manager spends most of their time in sales appointments with local and regional meeting planners. Use of a personal vehicle is required; approved mileage reimbursement will occur per annual IRS rates.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively researches, solicits and books new clients/accounts to meet and exceed the revenue budget by making cold calls, direct sales calls, conducting sales blitzes and site tours.
  • Develops and maintains an accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of clients or prospective clients' needs and interests by generating new leads, researching sales files, contact with local hoteliers, review of sales trade literature and directories, etc.
  • Builds and maintains business relationships with current or potential sales clients through regular contact via personal visits, phone calls and emails.
  • Develops and maintains an accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of capabilities of the Meydenbauer Center, and is able to effectively utilize this knowledge as a sales and/or planning tool matching those capabilities with the needs of the client or prospective client.
  • Participates in local hospitality industry organizations as a member by attending events and volunteering.
  • Conducts tours, site visits and sales presentations at Meydenbauer Center for prospective clients.
  • Maintains a positive and professional image and builds an effective rapport with clients and prospective clients.
  • Promptly follows up with sales contacts and leads including inbound leads as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of Meydenbauer Center open house and sales-focused events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or another related field.
  • Two years of experience in hospitality sales, outside sales preferred.
  • Two years of computer experience involving word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to tactfully deal with staff, clients, the general public and the hospitality community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, as well as enjoy relating and conversing with others.
  • Ability to express self clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a professional image.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and sales tactics as they relate to booking space and catering sales.
  • Ability to accurately handle a multitude of details and work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own task list.
