About the position

The Sales Manager, Venues is a pivotal role responsible for guiding customers through their event experiences, ensuring that their goals and objectives are met to create compelling events. This position requires a proactive approach to sales, utilizing all available tools to maximize event and revenue capture from an assigned customer base. The Sales Manager will cultivate and maintain relationships with key hotel personnel, enhancing the overall business relationship with the hotel and supporting company initiatives, business strategies, and core values. Reporting to a Sr. Sales Manager, Sales Director, or Director of Event Technology, this role is integral to the success of the events managed by Encore. Key responsibilities include driving revenue generation through a consultative sales approach, preparing and presenting quotes and proposals in a timely manner, and collaborating effectively with vendors and other departments to service events. The Sales Manager will attend site visits and pre-conference planning meetings to support the customer event experience, while also understanding the event cost structure to incorporate it into solution designs according to established profitability guidelines. In terms of relationship management, the Sales Manager is expected to deliver world-class service by maintaining strong relationships with customers and venue personnel. This involves thorough research of customer history to create personalized experiences and ensuring that all customer information is accurate in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. The role also requires maintaining a healthy sales pipeline to achieve established revenue targets and supporting sales forecasting efforts at the home location. Continuous learning about new product and service offerings, as well as emerging technology in the meetings and events sector, is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit and secure business through a proactive, consultative sales approach.
  • Prepare and present quotes and proposals in a timely manner to customers.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other departments to capture and service events.
  • Attend site visits, pre-conference planning meetings, and appropriate venue meetings as necessary.
  • Understand event cost structure and incorporate it into solution designs according to profitability guidelines.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers and venue personnel.
  • Research and understand customer history to create personalized experiences.
  • Ensure all customer information is accurate in the CRM system.
  • Refer and guide customers through the Encore network to secure additional opportunities.
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline to achieve revenue targets.
  • Support sales forecasting efforts and ensure accuracy.
  • Learn and adopt all SOPs related to the role and new initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of new product/service offerings and emerging technology.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or 1+ years of Encore or equivalent experience required.
  • 1 year technology sales or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Prior sales experience in audiovisual is a plus.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry and sales processes preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and computer proficiency required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
