About the position

The Event Sales Manager at 21c Museum Hotels is responsible for generating catering revenue by maximizing sales opportunities and up-selling additional events and amenities. This role involves building a client base, conducting site tours, and representing the hotel at various events. The manager will also develop targeted sales and marketing plans, achieve revenue goals, and maintain strong client relationships to ensure repeat business.

Responsibilities

  • Builds client base through outside sales calls, prospecting, direct mail, networking and referrals.
  • Conducts site tours and represents the hotel at trade shows and business events.
  • Identifies gap periods and recommends targeted sales & marketing plans to fill them.
  • Achieves budgeted revenue goals and booking goals.
  • Prepares monthly reports as requested by management.
  • Responsible for the entire sales process from client inquiries to payment and follow-up.
  • Maximizes profit and optimizes space through sales in accordance with established pricing models.
  • Creates contracts and collaborates with the sales team as appropriate.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Sales to ensure profitable bookings.
  • Communicates with clients immediately following events to rebook and gather feedback.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of products/services to answer client questions confidently.
  • Utilizes industry standard software for account management and reporting.
  • Assists with daytime event management and various operational tasks when necessary.
  • Maintains good working relationships with guests, groups, and personnel from other departments.
  • Tracks accounts receivable and ensures accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Enters event data into management systems and monitors event management.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Complete knowledge of hotel, catering, and event space.
  • Ability to utilize property adopted for booking, tracking, and executing optimal selling strategies.
  • Comprehension of the group sales process and negotiation of accounts.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and market data.
  • Desire to participate as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
