About the position

Wish You Were Here Group is seeking an Event Sales Manager to join our dynamic team in Santa Monica, CA. This role is pivotal in driving revenue through securing event bookings and fostering strong client relationships. As the Event Sales Manager, you will oversee the entire event execution process, ensuring that each event is not only successful but also memorable for our guests. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing layered, themed, and sponsored events that attract both local and regional demographics. Your creativity and strategic thinking will be essential in crafting unique experiences that transport our guests to different parts of the world through our diverse culinary offerings. In this role, you will assist the Assistant Director of Event Sales and the Director of Event Sales with various tasks including advertising, purchasing, branding, and sponsorship fulfillment. You will manage all aspects of sales events from the initial concept to execution, which includes overseeing decor, staff attire, promotional giveaways, performers, and social media outreach. Building and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national partners and sponsors will be crucial in creating events that garner publicity and high attendance. You will also collaborate with the Beverage Manager/Director to secure liquor sponsors for events and negotiate contracts with vendors for necessary event elements. Marketing is a key component of this role; you will ensure that all events are properly marketed through grassroots promotions, social media, and public relations. Additionally, you will assist in the overall sales operation by leveraging relationships for talent bookings and promotional partnerships. Staying current with local organizations, influencers, and pop culture trends will help you identify opportunities to capitalize on trends through nightclub events. This position requires a proactive approach to reaching out to brands exhibiting at major conventions for potential event collaborations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue by securing event bookings and building strong client relationships.
  • Conceptualize and execute layered, themed, and sponsored events to attract local and regional demographics.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Event Sales and Director of Event Sales with advertising, purchasing, branding, and sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Manage all aspects of sales events from conceptualization to execution, including decor, staff attire, branded promotional giveaways, performers, and social media outreach.
  • Maintain artist sales accounts by creating sales plans and executing sales events/promotions for specific resident DJs and artists.
  • Cultivate pitches to secure local, regional, and national partners/sponsors to create events that attract publicity and attendance to the venue.
  • Work with the Beverage Manager/Director to secure liquor sponsors for events.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors for necessary event elements and services.
  • Ensure all events are properly marketed through grassroots promotions, social media, and public relations.
  • Assist in overall sales operations utilizing relationships for talent bookings, DJ recommendations, and promotional partners.
  • Maintain inventory of promotional items and research new engaging giveaways to enhance guest experience.
  • Coordinate with hosts, promoters, and hotel departments to ensure effective communication regarding sales events and initiatives.
  • Stay current with local organizations, influencers, and events that could be potential partners.
  • Stay updated on pop culture and current events to capitalize on trends through nightclub events.
  • Proactively reach out to brands exhibiting at major conventions for opportunities to host events during convention weeks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in event sales, event management, or a related role.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in nightlife-focused event sales preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and sales abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in event management software and CRM tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, financial planning, budget tracking, and sales concepts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
